The Ultimate Guide to Midcoast Maine Wedding Venues
After working more than 150 weddings throughout Maine over the past nine years as an Event Planner, Caterer, and Designer, I can confidently say that Midcoast Maine offers some of the most diverse, beautiful, and memorable wedding venues in the state. Whether you're envisioning an elegant waterfront celebration, a luxury wedding weekend, a refined barn reception, or a laid back coastal gathering, Midcoast Maine has a venue that fits your vision.
If you're dreaming of a Maine wedding, chances are you've already fallen in love with the images: rocky coastlines, ocean breezes, historic inns, weathered barns, harbor side sailboats, and golden sunsets.
This guide breaks down some of the region's best wedding venues by style so you can find the perfect setting for your Maine wedding.
COASTAL VENUES
French's Point
There are wedding venues, and then there are experiences.
Located on a private oceanfront estate in Stockton Springs, French's Point offers exclusive weekend access to an expansive waterfront property designed to feel more like a family compound than a traditional venue. Couples and guests enjoy breathtaking Penobscot Bay views, private accommodations, and a full wedding weekend experience. The venue is particularly appealing for destination weddings where gathering everyone together is just as important as the wedding day itself. Welcome parties on their beach, lobster bake rehearsal dinners, and quintessential tented celebrations. ICONIC!
Best for: Luxury destination weddings, full weekend celebrations, waterfront elegance.
Ash Point Estate
Ahhh, Ash Point. I grew up driving by this property heading to the beach every summer, and always thought “what a beautiful venue that could be”! So glad it’s now being utilized to its full glorious potential.
It is one of Midcoast Maine's newer luxury wedding venues, combining ocean views with modern amenities. Located in Owls Head, this private estate offers a stunning venue space, overnight accommodations, and proximity to Rockland's restaurants and hotels.
What sets Ash Point apart is its ability to feel both intimate and grand. The property captures the essence of coastal Maine while providing a polished, elevated experience for couples seeking a modern venue with classic Maine charm.
Best for: Luxury coastal weddings, destination celebrations, couples wanting exclusive property access.
Bailey Island Library Hall
If you've ever dreamed of getting married on a quiet Maine island, Bailey Island Library Hall deserves a spot on your list. SO CHARMING!
This historic venue captures the authentic charm of coastal Maine without feeling overly formal. The surrounding scenery offers rocky shoreline views, lobster boats, and the quintessential atmosphere that so many couples travel to Maine to experience.
Best for: Intimate coastal weddings, authentic Maine charm, smaller guest counts.
Grey Havens Inn
Perched on the coast of Georgetown, Grey Havens Inn is one of Maine's hidden gems… and the price is hard to beat! My husband and I toured here and fell in love with the grand porch overlooking the ocean and islands. Someone needs to have a porch wedding dinner here!
The combination of historic architecture, ocean views, and boutique accommodations creates an intimate wedding experience that feels both sophisticated and relaxed. Guests can stay on site, enjoy exceptional in house dining, and spend the weekend soaking in Maine's natural beauty. Many local wedding professionals consider it one of the most romantic wedding settings in the state.
Best for: Boutique weddings, intimate guest lists, oceanfront celebrations.
Camden Amphitheater
Be still, my heart. Nestled in the heart of Camden, the Amphitheater offers one of the most picturesque ceremony locations in Maine.
With its stone architecture, mature trees, and proximity to Camden Harbor, it provides a timeless setting that feels straight out of a storybook. Many couples pair a Camden Amphitheater ceremony with a reception at a nearby inn, yacht club, or private venue.
While logistics and lack of privacy might be a deterrent, it still makes a lovely spot for couples portraits and family photographs.
Best for: Garden ceremonies, classic New England weddings, couples who love Camden.
MIDCOAST RESORTS
Spruce Point Inn
When couples tell me they want a classic Maine coastal wedding, Spruce Point Inn is often one of the first venues that comes to mind.
Located in Boothbay Harbor, the property spans more than 55 acres and offers multiple ceremony and reception locations overlooking the water. Guests can stay on-site and enjoy a true destination wedding experience complete with boating, waterfront activities, and resort amenities. The venue effortlessly balances luxury and Maine's relaxed coastal character.
Best for: Resort weddings, destination celebrations, larger guest counts.
Samoset Resort
Few venues deliver a "wow factor" quite like The Samoset.
Located in Rockport, this iconic oceanfront resort offers sweeping views of Penobscot Bay and one of Maine's most recognizable coastal landscapes. The combination of luxury accommodations, private cottages, exceptional in house catering, a top notch golf course, multiple pools, and stunning scenery makes it one of Midcoast Maine's premier wedding destinations.
I worked here throughout high school and college - it’s even a blast to be employed there!
Best for: Luxury weddings, large guest counts, elegant coastal celebrations.
CAMP VENUES
Tops’l Farm (Waldoboro) on the Medomak River
Tops’l Farm
TOPS'L Farm has become one of midcoast Maine's most talked about wedding venues.
Located on 83 acres in Waldoboro, Tops'l focuses on immersive wedding weekends rather than one day events. Couples can host an entire experience, including accommodations, farm to table dining, outdoor adventures, and multiple days of celebration. Their philosophy centers around creating meaningful gatherings rooted in community, food, and connection. Their riverside yurt is quite literally a dream.
Best for: Wedding weekends, experiential weddings, couples prioritizing guest experience.
Otyokwa
House boats. Enough said. My husband and I toured here and fell in love with the rustic charm of the cabins, and could picture our friends gathered round campfires, jumping in the lake at all hours, hooting and hollering along the shoreline. Good vibes only!
Blueberry Cove Camp
A classic Maine Summer Camp in St. George!
COASTAL BARNS
1774 Inn
Call me biased, but my husband and I got married here...! Historic, oh so elegant, and distinctly Maine, the 1774 Inn offers couples a charming venue with character around every. single. corner. A wedding experience that feels both elevated and welcoming. A blank slate venue allowing you to make it feel truly your own. Sweeping views of the Kennebec river, woodland spaces and trails, and mature gardens. I loved the fact that the interior of the inn was so stunning and spacious, that in the case of rain, we would not have to compromise on photos. Guess what - it rained! And as a bride, I don’t feel like I sacrificed a thing.
Best for: Historic weddings, intimate celebrations, destination guests.
Wanderwood
Wanderwood has quickly become a favorite among couples seeking a venue that feels natural, intentional, and deeply connected to Maine's landscape.
The property provides a refined barn experience without sacrificing authenticity. Owners Matt and Kelsey live on property and are truly stewards of
their land. They prioritize growing their own vegetables and flowers, which are often incorporated into each celebration. Their sustainable views on
the wedding industry are so refreshing - They focus on no plastic or single use items, and composting on site.
Best for: Modern barn weddings, outdoor focused celebrations, sustainability.
Saltwater Fields
Saltwater Fields perfectly bridges the gap between coastal and barn wedding aesthetics. The surrounding scenery creates a uniquely Maine backdrop while maintaining the warmth and charm of a barn venue.
Best for: Coastal-rustic weddings, tented celebrations, relaxed elegance.
1812 Farm
My old stomping grounds! I spent two and a half seasons here leading their incredible event and catering team. They are easily one of the most recognizable wedding venues in Maine. The 1812 Farm combines rolling fields, manicured gardens, the greenest lawn all season long, and stunning event spaces. Starting in 2027, they are offering their farmhouse as an additional rental, allowing for 16~ overnight guests, making it an all inclusive venue.
The venue is especially beloved for its incredible floral displays (April - late October) and beautifully maintained grounds, it’s proximity to Pemaquid Point (if you’re dreaming of a lighthouse wedding, check it out) making it a dream location for wedding photography.
Best for: Garden weddings, classic barn celebrations, romantic aesthetics.
Squire Tarbox Inn
This historic inn combines rustic character with Maine countryside charm with extremely elegant and tasteful accommodations. With the river in walking distance, it provides a beautiful, affordable, off the beaten path venue for those who want to take the road less traveled. Dinner party wedding dreams! Ceremonies under the willow tree are swoon worthy.
RUSTIC BARNS
The Carriage House
Do you like delicious wood fired pizza, grazing boards and seasonal spritz’s? To the Carriage House you go!
My sister had her 35 person wedding reception here - the owner Jess is a delight and truly loves her community! The Carriage House strikes a beautiful balance between historic charm and garden party whimsy. Everything inside the building is lovingly restored and made by local artisans, from the windows, to the benches, to the bar tops. The perfect micro wedding venue!
Harmony Hill
Harmony Hill delivers the quintessential Maine barn wedding experience. The property offers beautiful rural scenery while maintaining a polished and welcoming atmosphere. The property has been in their family for generations, and the owners are the loveliest locals! Tammy (owner) is your built in Day of Coordinator, as know one knows the property better.
Crawford Farm
Affordable, relaxed, Maine. Crawford Farm showcases the natural beauty of Maine's countryside while providing plenty of flexibility for personalization. A lovely and approachable option for a single day wedding event with nearby amenities and accommodations. Dirigo Golf Simulator is right next door in the MAC - a great spot for the groom and his crew to spend the morning!
Beech Hill Barn
A favorite among couples seeking a traditional Maine barn venue, Beech Hill Barn offers ~gorgeous~ views and a classic barn setting that feels warm and inviting. I want to copy and paste their indoor cocktail hour bar barn to my back yard. Also, their custom color siding stain is so perfect (yes, I had a converstation about the siding with the owner). Also copy and paste!!
Their get ready area is a brides dream, and their newly added bunk room was built with your friend group in mind!
The Barn at Silver Oaks Estate
With elegant finishes and stunning grounds, Silver Oaks Estate offers a more refined take on the barn wedding aesthetic. Nearby Augusta offers plenty of accommodations and amenities for groups needing to host those from away!
How to Choose the Right Midcoast Maine Wedding Venue
After leading more than 150 weddings, I've learned that the "best" venue isn't necessarily the most expensive, the most popular, or even the most beautiful.
The best venue is the one that supports the experience you want you and your guests to have. The one that feels most like you and your partner.
Ask yourselves:
Do you want a one day event or a full wedding weekend?
Is waterfront a priority?
Would your guests benefit from on site lodging?
Do you envision a luxury experience or a relaxed gathering?
How important is accessibility and travel logistics?
The answers to those questions will often guide you toward the perfect venue faster than scrolling through hundreds of photos online.

From dramatic oceanfront estates and historic inns to luxury resorts and charming barns, the region offers an incredible variety of wedding venues for every style of celebration.
